About
I originally started studying engineering, but after a few internships at NASA I realized what I really loved was my job with University of Maryland Recreation and Wellness. So I switched my major and began studying Kinesiology at the School of Public Health! As an athlete diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 17, I was interested in the ways movement could improve the lives of people with disabilities. By viewing my kinesiological studies through the lens of sociology, I came to see movement as a public health tool that could improve the lives of many.
I began my fitness career in 2018 after completing the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer course and quickly realized I was able to connect with people over the shared experience of waking up one day and realizing you can’t do the things you used to. My background in engineering helped me study my clients movement patterns, explain what was wrong, and guide them to making adjustments to move more comfortably. Eventually, I also completed the requirements to become a specialist in both Corrective Exercise and Performance Enhancement.
I am a proud trans man and accomplished soccer referee that enjoys hiking, watching sportsball, and feeding my insatiable curiosity through books and documentaries. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my partner, Kaitlyn, and crazy cats, Crabcake and Old Bay.
